Ok, that’s misleading. I have nothing exciting to say and there’s no real reason for you to sit down. I just wouldn’t want anyone to keel over in shock to see me actually blogging again.
I’m sorry dear readers (if any of you are even still around at this point!) I didn’t intend to disappear that way, and certainly not without warning. I just had some stuff that needed to be addressed, and I needed some time and space to work through it. For those of you who know me, you know I’m an optimist to the end. I don’t go around cramming sunshine up people’s butt – that’s just irritating. But I was blessed with the ability to always look on the bright side, so when some uncharacteristically less-than-lovely thoughts took over, I chose to retreat. No need to spread negativity – the world is already full of that.
Anywho…
(don’t you just hate it when people say anywho? Or is that just me?)
So, yeah. Here I am. Back and blogging, baby.
The plan is to pick right back up with Makeover Monday, the one-woman show carnival sensation, so look for that in a few days. And please, snag the button and join in! It makes me look somewhat less stupid if I’m not the only one playing. Somewhat.
And not only have I not been writing myself, but I’ve not been reading, either. Forgive me for neglecting your blogs – I’ll be making the rounds again soon, I promise. I’ve missed you.
xoxo
Oh blogosphere, how I’ve missed you so.
A few weeks ago we were leaving for a Disney vacation, and then I sort of dropped off the face of the Internet. I know. I’m sorry. It’s been crazy crazier than usual. I will update properly on our vacation, pictures and all, but first here are the obligatory explanations for my prolonged absence.
One new-to-us experience we had on this vacation was ‘having a child get sick in Disney World.’ I don’t really want to repeat that one. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but long story short, Lilly was infected with e coli. She (and I) spent the second half of the vacation pretty much tied to the resort room, and she was hospitalized the week we got home. Not fun.
And then came Easter. And after she was released, my parents went away for a few days, which left me and my unruly brood in charge of our website (total plug for Garden Party Teas). I love, love, LOVE working with the site, but it’s not easy to do with the amount of ‘help’ I get from my 2 & 3 year old daughters. Anyway, we’ve been very busy lately – it’s Tea Party season, don’t you know? I’m grateful for our customers, but it does keep us on our toes!
After all of that died down, I came back to blog. I had very good intentions. Unfortunately, though, a spammer sidetracked me. I had to weed through and delete literally thousands of spam comments. When I finally got that tedious task off of my plate, I checked my email, only to discover that every single comment also generated an email notificaion, so yet again I had to weed through them all. UGH! It was such a long, annoying process that by the time I finished (several days later), I had no desire to blog!
Then we had a crazy soccer week (I’m the coach of my daughters’ rockin’ U-6 team), busy school week (I volunteer there on a regular basis – so fun!), yada, yada, yada. And now my poor Mom has hurt her back and is unable to do much of anything but lie in pain. When it rains it pours I suppose!
So there you have it, the list of excuses reasons why I was unable to join the land of the living for a while. But never fear, I’m back baby, with lots to talk about, lots to show you, and a few really awesome giveaways in the works! Woo-hoo!
It’s a whole new me!
Well ok no, it’s still the same old me. But it’s a whole new beautiful look, anyway.
I was really fed up with the Blogger platform. It was an easy, un-intimidating way to get started with a blog, but I had outgrown its capabilities and was frustrated. I knew I wanted to switch to WordPress, and at the same time there were some other changes I wanted to make as well.
Enter Darcie – yes, Such the Spot Darcie. She’s multi-talented! I gave her an idea of what I wanted, and poof! this beautiful blog appeared. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t quite that easy on her end, but on my end it was like magic. She was fast, and if I do say so myself I think it is a beautiful design. Did I mention that this is the first one she’s ever done? Wow! If you’re needing a whole new look for your blog, or just want a button made, I highly recommend Darcie!
So…if you were following me over at A day in the life…, please change your bookmark to reflect the new site. I’ll be leaving that site up and live for now but it will not be updating, so if you want the new scoop you’ll need to hop over here to Hopelessly Flawed. Thanks for joining me on this crazy ride!
PS) If you find any broken links, errors, or other assortment of bugs and glitches, please let me know. Still feeling my way around here!
I feel horrible. What’s that phrase, death warmed over? I feel like death still cold. I have a sore throat, body aches, and chills. And since my beloved Tylenol Flu was pulled from the market a few years ago, I’m left without a fix. Nothing else works as well.
I am so miserable. And the kids are sick too, of course. Lilly saw the doc this morning, diagnosed with double ear infection. Also got a script for eye cream, as she has a very gunky gross discharge. Which Catie has developed this afternoon as well. At least I don’t have that.
What I do have is a deadline. I am Disney bound on Friday morning, and I need this crud to be gone before then.
And now I’m going back to lay on the couch and feel terrible.
At what age do you become old? I swear for me it happened overnight. I was gliding along, cool and hip and then BAM! it hit me. I’m old and totally out of it. I think it is closely related to the timeline of when my children were born, so I guess I could just blame them. Because I really am completely lost now.
For example, ‘cool’ and ‘hip’ are probably no longer cool and hip words to use, are they? Oy vey. But I’m trying! Blogging and Twitter and Facebook oh my! (Forget MySpace, if that’s even still around – I never made it there) And I have Disney to thank for it all.
By the time I figure these out, my daughters will be old enough to use them. Except they’ll be using whatever other site is out there, because these will no longer be cool and hip. Sigh.

sweet little kitty? Just in time for Halloween…

Yet again we have had kittens dumped in our yard. Clearly our reputation for being tenderhearted has gotten around town. Twin little tuxedo boys, about 5 weeks old. Aren’t they adorable?

They are so much fun I’m doing one again today. This time it’s the It’s Its There Their Quiz, which was surely written by a nerd such as myself. My results will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me.

I think I’m gonna try to do a new one every Wednesday – these are fun!
Today I did the ‘What does your dream house say about you?’ test, and I think the results are pretty dead on. Except for the looking good part – I need to work on that.
