Hopelessly Flawed

100th post, 100 things

In honor of my 100th entry, here are 100 little tidbits about me:

1 – I’m a Disney fanatic.

2 – However, I didn’t take my first trip to WDW until 2005!

3 – Member of the Inaugural 2008 WDW Moms Panel.

4 – I have had 4 dogs in my life – one that I had from the age of 5-21, and the other 3 right now. Cooper and Wrigley outside, and Molly is inside. I can’t imagine life without a dog around.

5 – I love salads – the unhealthy, really delicious ones.

6 – I have a bad temper…but I’m working on it.

7 – Potatoes and pasta and bread are foods I could never give up.

8 – I have this anal little quirk about needing light switches evenly aligned.

9 – I have had 9 different cars in my life, only one of them new.

10 – I worked in cars pre-kids, so I know what a rip-off it is to buy a new car.

11 – I watch too much TV.

12 – I love to sew and I hoard fabric. I have hundreds of yards, just waiting for a purpose.

13 – Drinking Yoo-Hoo chocolate pop transports me to my childhood.

14 – I love to read, but can’t afford to keep myself in books! I read 2 lines at a time, so I go through a novel (like Jodi Picoult) in about a day.

15 – When I say I’m hungry, you’ve got about 15 minutes to feed me before I become irrational.

16 – I really love Charlie & Lola.

17 – I also love Junie B, Ramona Quimby, High School Musical, and the Jonas Brothers. I’m a kid at heart.

18 – I have never read Harry Potter or Twilight. And I’m proud of that.

19 – I am allergic to mint, tomatoes, morphine, and darvon. Remember that in case we’re ever in an accident together, ‘kay?

20 – I collected Strawberry Shortcake dolls as a child, and I still have them. Now my daughters and I can play together. :)

21 – Before we even dated, my husband told me that he knew the first time he saw me that I was the woman he would marry. (Despite how that may sound, he is not even slightly romantic or sensitive)

22 – I love wine, but very rarely drink any.

23 – I adore my minivan, and get mad at my husband when he dreams of replacing it with an SUV.

24 – I love American Girl dolls just as much as my daughters do.

25 – I never thought I’d say this, but I no longer care about experiencing all 4 seasons and would really like to move south again. Farther south.

26 – I don’t like to go anywhere without my daughters, and we very rarely have dates because of this. The only people they have ever stayed with are my parents, and at the moment there is no one else here that I would trust them with.

27 – I still talk to one of my best friends from high school, who was a foreign exchange student from Finland. We’ve lost touch a couple of times, but have always reconnected. Despite the distance and the lapses in communication, I still consider her one of my closest friends.

28 – I hate talking about my age. I’ve always related better to people much older than myself, but I find many people discount you once they hear that number. I try to avoid the conversation whenever possible.

29 – I have no willpower.

30 – I’d rather be fat & happy than skinny & hungry. I try to stay in the middle. :D

31 – I would never have plastic surgery (or Botox) on my face. Other parts are fair game.

32 – I love to roller skate, and am really looking forward to Annie’s skating bday party so I have an excuse! (seriously, kid at heart)

33 – I’m very sensitive to noise. Loud people or places make me nervous.

34 – When I go on vacation, I like to be busy all day. No hanging around on the beach for me!

35 – I am not easily offended or embarrassed.

36 – I will not watch any movie with potty or gross-out humor.

37 – I’m sensitive and I cry easily. Not like my feelings get hurt easily, like I cry when watching the news, or reading a particularly heart-warming (or sad) story.

38 – I was an English major in college.

39 – I have a million typos whenever I use a laptop.

40 – I’m not a good friend to have. Not because I don’t care about you – I do. I’m just a homebody, so I am bad about making plans to go out, and I don’t keep in touch like I should. I am happiest at home with my family.

41 – I could eat a pound of red raspberries. And I have!

42 – When I was expecting Annabelle, I ate a crate of clementines every day. An entire crate!

43 – I have a low tolerance for complaining. Ditto whining. And negativity in general.

44 – I don’t care much for sweets.

45 – I LOVE seafood. Also Seefood.

46 – I called Dish Network and asked if they’d block CNN from entering my home, on principal. They said no. It is now on parental block with the other dirty channels.

47 – I have guilt. Lots and lots of it.

48 – I played basketball and hockey, ran track, took dance lessons, was a cheerleader, an actress, a singer, and the newspaper editor all in high school (at at least one of the 3 I attended!) I continued with drama and dancing in college productions. After having my tonsils removed at 20, I am unable to sing. I still love it, but my tone is gone and it hurts my throat.

49 – I keep my fingernails trimmed short, but pre-kiddos when I was working I had acrylic nails. I miss them.

50 – I grow basil in the summer just so I can make homemade pesto. yum!

51 – I am a moderator for Here Comes The Stork.

52 – Favorite line from Chicken Little: “That’s it! Prepare to hurt, and I don’t mean emotionally like I do.”

53 – I like to dip fries in mayo.

54 – When I see a gun rack in a pickup truck, I don’t feel frightened. I feel comforted, knowing that if someone messes with me, that guy will shoot ‘em.

55 – You know how they say your feet expand about half a size while pregnant? Apparently that is with each pregnancy, because my feet are now 1.5 sizes larger than they were pre-babies.

56 – I worked as a waitress and bartender while in college.

57 – I met my husband while working at that first restaurant. Remember how he told me that he knew as soon as he saw me that he was going to marry me? Funny, because when he met me, he wasn’t able to articulate that thought, so instead he pelted my head with lime wedges from the bar garnishes.

58 – Sometimes when Chris isn’t home, I eat dinner after the kids go to bed so I don’t have to share. How often does a mom get a hot meal?

59 – I struggle with depression and social anxiety. I’m mostly ‘up,’ but if I’ve ever bailed on you at the last minute, now you know why.

60 – I *love* to paint. Love it. Walls I mean. I have no actual artistic talent. Just walls.

61 – I’m messy. I don’t lose things. I can find anything you need, but it’s in a pile of clutter somewhere, I guarantee it.

62 – I’m always exactly (barely) on time. Only late if Chris is with me, only early if the kids aren’t.

63 – I have a great memory for music, and I know the lyrics to thousands of songs.

64 – I hate to fly.

65 – In high school, I was on the academic team. My specialty? Useless trivia.

66 – Though I often daydream about what I’d do if I won, I’ve never actually purchased a lottery ticket. My odds aren’t good.

67 – I firmly believe that a nice fluffy piece of white cake (with buttercream frosting) is the perfect dessert. Or breakfast.

68 – I collect Fisher Price Little People. My kids don’t even like them as much as I do. Which reminds me, I need to order the St. Patrick’s Day set. How cute is that?

69 – My mom is my best friend.

70 – I have crafty ADD (as defined by bloggy friend Heather).

71 – Speaking of which…I have purchased hundreds of dollars of scrapbooking supplies, and have not even made one page. And in spite of this, I’m asking for a Cricut Expressions for my birthday. It’s a sickness.

72 – My mom taught me to sew on an old treadle sewing machine, and when I was in high school she helped me make my prom dresses. So no one would have one like mine. :)

73 – I’ve started writing several books, but can’t seem to finish one. I get too obsessed with perfection and they never make the cut.

74 – I have bungee jumped – circa 1994. I would love to do it again, or parachute, or hang-glide…but I won’t. I have kids and responsibilities now.

75 – At age 8, I won a contest to be named ‘The World’s Most Interesting Kid.’ (and look at all I have to show for it)

76 – I love shoes. Really swank, fabulous heels in particular. Never mind that I have no place to wear them. I once wore Louboutins to church (and then promptly sold them, because what was I thinking buying pricey shoes? I could get a LOT of Payless for that price!)

77 – Despite how the above sounds, I’m actually quite thrifty. The only time I’m loose with money is when it comes to someone else. I’m generous to a fault, and have been known to rack up credit card bills for the Angel Tree kids or St. Jude’s.

78 – If I want to get anything done, it must be on a list. I like the satisfaction of checking things off. If it’s not written down, I wander aimlessly and accomplish little.

79 – I’m a very practical person. Before we married, I told Chris that I’d rather have cash (for a down payment on a house) than an engagement ring. He didn’t listen, but he did make sure to tell me that he got a great price on the ring because it was mis-marked, so he argued and forced them to sell it to him for a huge discount.

80 – I have a sick sense of humor. If someone trips and falls in front of me, I will laugh, even while offering to help them up. Just ask my kids.

81 – I can’t listen to ‘Dancing Queen’ without dancing along.

82 – Besides our safety, obviously, my worst fear about a house fire is losing our pictures. Because of that, we have backup copies in our firesafe box and in an offsite location, just in case.

83 – I argued with Chris for years to get the tv out of our bedroom, and when we moved to our new house he finally relented. Now I kind of miss it, but I hate to admit that to him. Yesterday when he proposed that we buy another tv for in our room, I said nothing. He’ll take that as a yes, right?

84 – I am afraid of midgets/dwarfs. I feel horrible admitting this because I know how awful it is, truly I do, and I feel very guilty about it. But I can’t make it go away. And it never fails that we get stuck in Munchkin Land on the Great Movie Ride.

85 – I love roller coasters. One of my best memories of my grandfather is riding the world’s tallest and fastest coaster together – and he was in his 70′s at the time. How awesome is that?

86 – I admire character above all other achievements.

87 – I buy lemonade from every kid’s stand that I see, whether I’m thirsty or not.

88 – I was a very sick kid, and spent about half of my time in the hospital from age 12-16. We later found out that it was an environmental allergy in the school I was attending at the time.

89 – I briefly owned a Mazda Miata. I knew when I bought it that I wouldn’t keep it for long, but I wanted to own a convertible once in my life, before kids came along and made it impossible. I loved that car. Still miss it.

90 – I am mortified at the thought of wearing a bathing suit on vacation in 5 short weeks.

91 – I don’t read horoscopes or know the star signs. Someone said to me recently, ‘I’m a cancer’ and I wondered why they weren’t a little more ashamed of that. Little slow on the uptake.

92 – One area where I am very organized is my daughters’ play kitchen. It’s far more organized than my own real kitchen.

93 – I had a friend who has apparently un-friended me and I don’t know why. No response to emails, phone calls, Christmas cards. I get the hint and I’m fine with it I guess, but I’d at least like to know why. Is that loser-ish of me? If I offended I don’t know why, and I would apologize…

94 – I am still upset with myself over stupid things I did years ago. God forgives me, but I can’t forgive myself. And I don’t mean reckless choices, I mean truly stupid things. Like when I was 6 and I threw a fit over a toy monkey my mom bought me, and we just had to return it for a koala bear. I felt ashamed every time I looked at that bear. I don’t even have it now, and I still feel guilty. My mom, of course, has no recollection of this event whatsoever.

95 – I rarely eat anything before 1 o’clock. I know, that’s bad.

96 – My dad is my earthly hero. He’s so amazing. And even though I am a grown woman, he will still rush over on a moments notice to handle my [perceived] emergencies. Thank heavens he’s only a mile away.

97 – It grows fast, so once a year I donate my hair to Locks of Love. So do my daughters. Annie’s picture is in my slide show to the right, and Catie’s is here. Please give it a try yourself.

98 – I do not think of people in terms of color, and I’m bothered when other people do. We are only different if we make ourselves different. God made us all shades of a single pigment.

99 – I miss my sisters. We’re not close in age or in proximity, but I long for us to be close in spirit.

100 – I am a child of God. And so thankful. I am blessed.

    Happy 100th!

    Love the list…especially 43, 61, and 84!

I despise whining, too…but it is probably because I was a whiner as a child and now feel guilty about it!

I was just telling my mom today that even though I have these messy junk drawers and piles, I know where most everything is!

Not for the same reason, but I am always nervous about riding the Great Movie Ride and one day it changing to the Wicked Witch that hijacks the tram….I am deathly scared of that green faced witch…always have been.

    Have a great week.

PSI still think it is so cool that we shared this milestone together on the same day!

CAN I JUST SAY THAT WE COULD BE SOUL SISTERS.

Oh, if it weren’t for the whole loud people make you nervous. = )

Congrats on 100 posts! Here’s to many more.

You and I are kinda like my husband and I: so much alike yet so very different. Alike in many, many ways. Different in the whole liking kid shows thing. And the seafood. Definitely the seafood.

I love the wine. And I partake often.

The plastic surgery thing is crackin me up. As is the CNN. I think LOL is getting to be overused but I honestly LOL’d about the CNN.

No TV in any bedrooms at home for us. Me no likie the noise either. And I’m a guilt monger too.

Different? The sweets. The mayo. BLECH! And the Twilight. I’m reading it now and I am so totally hooked.

I loved your list. Happy 100!
